Bouncing For JOY [Article]

The most important emotional component of Bounce is JOY! All humans have five core emotions: fear, anger, disgust, sadness, and joy, and joy is the only one that triggers endorphins. Endorphins repair damaged cells, increase the effectiveness of the immune system, relieve pain, restore full brain activity, and slow aging. Endorphins open up the mind, making us ready for new experiences, challenges, and discoveries. They show us the way to being our best. Only joy instantly launches endorphins. It is better to focus on seeking joy than thinking about managing your stress. Whatever we focus on, we tend to get, so focus on what you want, not what you don’t want.

Seeking joy makes Bounce fun. Laughing, joking, having play dates, and doing silly things helps us physically as well as mentally. Everything goes better when we are joyful. We take better care of ourselves, get along with others better and have time and energy to find joy and meaning in day-to-day life. People who seek joy are usually happy. Seeking joy and finding happiness is not expensive or difficult. The happiest people do have certain elements in common but they are not what you might expect.

The truths about how we find happiness are surprising in that they are within anyone’s grasp. It is a matter of seeking joy, celebrating everyday successes, and emphasizing the good! Here is what researchers report:

• Small day-to-day pleasures outrank ‘big bang’ events.
• Sex and having fun with friends outranks housework and watching TV. (No surprise there!)
• Having fun is not as important to happiness as helping others.
• The single most important factor in happiness is not what we do, but what we think about what we do, and who we think we are.

We must be conscious of both our internal and external self to have control or choice over what we believe and what we experience. The belief that we are in control of ourselves and that our lives are meaningful is more important than fame, fortune, or fun. Being your best creates the foundation for happiness. The highest paid executive who believes he is entitled to big bucks is less happy than the lowest paid grocery clerk who knows that she is doing her best and that her best is benefiting others.

It is simple and fun to add joy and pleasure to your life while having a clear sense of what it takes to be the best you can be. What brings you joy? A walk in the rain; a funny movie, telling a joke; singing, playing frisbee, or hide and seek with your lover? Make a list of experiences that bring you JOY.

Do you know what is most important for your happiness?

1. Feeling like you are in control of your own life.
2. Enjoying close relationships.
3. Meaningful activity benefiting others.
4. Passionate work building on your strengths.
5. Appreciation and gratitude for yourself and others.

Remember the lyrics from “When You’re Smiling?”

When you are smiling, when you’re smiling
The whole world smiles with you
When you’re laughing, when you’re laughing
The sun comes shining through

It turns out to be a scientific fact. When our mouths turn up in a smile or open for a belly laugh the brain releases endorphins, and when you get a hit of those endorphins, you can smile even more.

And, guess what, when you smile at someone else, you get a hit of endorphins and so do they!

Basics For The Mind & Body [Article]

Living Bounce means taking specific steps on a day-to-day basis to create a foundation for being your best. Being our best begins withself-awareness — knowing who you are and what you believe, awareness of others’ perceptions, a commitment to growth, a confidence in your own perceptions, a realistic view of the world, and devotion to caring for yourself physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Each Bounce woman found her way through difficult times by caring for herself first, something we all found difficult, but mustered the discipline to just do.

The Bounce Basics includes MUST DOs for the brain. They are: sleep, meditation, and brain training. There is no way around these basics. Unless the brain is working well, nothing works. Nearly every woman I have talked to during times of distress is having difficulty in one of these areas, and before she can Bounce she has to learn to control her own mind. Having control of the brain gives us the positive physical and mental health that we need to live Bounce. Bouncing moves us toward being our personal best, and as an added benefit we also find happiness.

Current studies show that happy people have the best ideas, are able to see beyond themselves, care about the welfare of others, and make the greatest contributions. Nature designed us to be happy, healthy, creative, joyful, and altruistic. It is as easy to be happy as it is to be unhappy. When we think about being happy, we usually think about getting what we want, such as more money, a new car, or a different lover. But happiness doesn’t come through the accumulation of things or from the love or acceptance of other people. Happiness starts in the mind.

Caring for your brain is essential for physical and emotional well-being. It is a myth that we do not use all of our brain, we use every single little neuron.

Do not skip sleep. While you are sleeping, your brain is busy. Sleep helps the nervous system work properly. It strengthens the immune system, keeping the body safe from infection. Complete sleep improves memory, enhances physical and athletic performance abilities, and gives us emotional stability and resilience. Without sleep, neurons lose their energy and become dysfunctional. Sleep gives the brain a chance to repair neural networks. Your brain needs eight hours to do it’s job! It will reward you!

Bounce Basics create the platform for living Bounce by taking care of your brain and mind. Sleep, meditation, and brain training are brain-care basics. Learn how to sleep well, meditate, and train your brain to be happy, health and productive with Bounce, Be TransformedChange your mind, change your life, change the world!
